I've been dedicated to providing support for new parents, and understanding pregnancy, birth and postnatal care, for over a decade. Upon completion of my MA from The University of Edinburgh in Linguistics, majoring in Child Language Acquisition, I knew this was the right direction for me and began my studies in antenatal care.
I first trained as a doula in 2010 and supported expectant parents before, during and after birth. I wanted to do more, so in 2012 I earned my Foundation Degree in Antenatal Education from the University of Worcester, as well as my Professional Licence to Practice from the National Childbirth Trust (NCT). I’ve been passionate about teaching antenatal classes weekly for the past 8 years, as well as keeping up with all the latest maternity research. I also had the amazing opportunity to work with expectant teenage parents, supporting their journey to becoming mothers.
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I wanted to help as many people as possible to have access to antenatal education. To this end, I ran 50 free antenatal session over Zoom, and supported almost 400 attendees. Following this I decided to extend the classes and developed RK Antenatal – an affordable, streamlined, 4-part antenatal course. I am committed to providing this service to everyone who would benefit, regardless of circumstance, so offer 5 free financial hardship tickets per class.
My Parenting Journey
I never expected to be a mother, never mind of 4 children in 6 years! With support from friends, family and most importantly my husband Werner, it has been the most thrilling adventure of my life. It has also been the most difficult! Sometimes I adore being a mother – other times, I question my sanity. I know this can be such a hard time and I want to support as many people through it as possible. I’ve decided to share a little of my parenting journey, to help you get to know where I’m coming from.
